NARI:Li, TIYE FOR BORROW PIT UTILIZATION i~! GREEN VALLEY ROAD <br /> <br />Thc proposed borrow pit is located on the Eno Thomson farm at 62 10 Greta Valley, Road in <br />)~noka CounW, City of Ramsev. Apprommare!y 200,000 cubic yards of' matenzd is expected to be <br />mined 2om the pit. Since less than 5 acres w/Il be opened at a ~sme w-ir. hour r~tamation, an <br />Erosion Control ?tan and a NnPDES Genera/Storm water P:,,xn/.t is not required for ti'ds proje~. <br />Approximately 9 acres will be disturbed over the life of the operation. The following excavanon <br />plan incorporates storm water run off control a~ well as an efficient method of excavatdon and pit <br />rehabilitation. Toe work items are listed in the c~onoto~cal order they will oceur at the sire. <br /> <br />MN DOT Heavy Duty silt fence w/ii be msralIed along the southern edge of the project sire <br />berwe~-m the proposed borrow pit and the wetlands. After the silt fence is installed, clearing and <br />g_rubbing will commence. 'Cae n-ees will be salvaged for fire wood as much a.s is practica/. The <br />stumps and tree tops will be pushed toro piles and burned on sire-after the proper perrmt is <br />secured. <br /> <br />The haul road and 100 foot ~avei buff~ will be consn'ucted as indicated on the _2:fading plans. <br />The gavel buffer will be refreshed as nezessm-y to ~7ummize ~zacking onto Green Valley Road. A <br />security gate will be installed along the haul road co lirmr aczess dUPing non working hours. Proper <br />sig. nage will be ~ecred along Green Valley Road during trucking operations. <br /> <br />Lmfial topsoil stripping will be done along the South face of the h./.lI. The topsoil w/Il be pushed <br />downidll to create a berm in front of the silt f~ce. Toe topsoil berm will be a rn.~imum of 4 fe~t <br />high. The ~-a--ippmg acfiviLy will be conducted in such a way as to create a depressed area in front <br />of the berm for water storao, qe. [r is antic/pared char all storm water will be mit/ally contained by <br />the berm. The narur21 sandy soils will allow natural filtration and percolanon of the contained <br />water. The berm will be seeded with rye ~ass or some other suitable cover ~op. Erosion control <br />measures will be ma/ntamed until final cover is established. The res~ of the topsoil will be stripped <br />to allow excavanon of the borrow material and w~II be stockpiled for restoranon. No topsoil <br />be exported from the sire. <br /> <br />Borrow excavation is 'scheduled tO be~.n along [he hill's Northeast edge and prbceed to the Ea~r <br />and South. A backhoe will most likely be utilized to load the tracks:' The mareria/w/Il be <br />excavated full depth and completely removed fi.om an area. No more than 5 acres will be exposed <br />ar a t/me wit_hour reclamation. Ail disturbed area (including the haul road), will be reclaimed. For <br />insmnca, ifha/f of pit area is disturbed to provide mate,rial for a particular projec~ ~at material <br />will be removed and then that portion of the borrow .pit will be r~lamaed before excavation <br />continues. <br /> <br />Reclamar/on of the borrow pit will include ~ading the sub~m'ade to six inches below the contours <br />shown on the ~ading plan and then spreading the av-a/lable topsoil over the disturbed are~. Toe <br />stte will then be seeded with a cover crop. A£rer establishment of the cover crop, the silt fence and <br />any silt trapped beiund the fence will be removed. <br /> <br /> <br />
