JUL. ii.2002 9:53AM CITY OF AHOKA COMMUHITY DEV M0.7~8 <br /> <br />The Heritage Preservation Commission (/-IPC) was establiahed in 1999 with the Amoka <br />City Council appointment of seven volunteer members to serve in the Anoka community. <br /> <br />The Heritage Preservation Commission is responsible for research, identification and' <br />preservation of historically significant social, physical, and economic environments that <br />include such things as individual and social group activities and events .or <br />accomplishments as well as 'unique ~ld~of prominent residential, commercial, and <br />industrial structures. <br /> <br />1999 <br /> <br /> HPC Established.. <br /> <br />· I-{PC./ABLA Subcommittee formed. <br /> <br /> '~oving Buildings" ordinance amendment adopted; <br /> <br />2000 <br /> <br />· MPC - Historical Calendar Produced. <br /> <br />· kIPC/Park Board Subcommiaee assembled. <br /> <br />· Heritage P~eservation "Lite" ordinance adopted. <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Council Housing and Redevelopment Authority (Metro HRA) administers <br />rent assistance dollars that come to Minnesota through, the U.S. Department of Homing and <br />Urban Development (HUD). HUD receives the funds under Section $ of the Federal Housing <br />and Community Development Act of 1974. <br /> <br />The City of An'oka, through its Housing and Redevelopment Authority, has conlracted with <br />Metro HRA to provide this program on a local level. Under the Metro I-IRA program, low <br />and moderate income families and single persons receive rent subsidies for privately owned, <br />market mm m. nm[ housing (incluaing apartments, duplexes, townhouses, single family homes, <br />and mobile homes.) The tenant pays approximately 30 percent of the family income toward <br />the rent and thc housing authority pays the remainder directly to the landlord. <br /> <br />The Housing Specialist in the Community Development Depat~aent administers the Section 8 <br />program for twelve communities in and surrounding A,noka <br /> <br />PAGE 21 oF 38 <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br /> <br />
