CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 12, 1989 at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Councilmember Stephen F. DeLuca <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator David Hartley <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />Finance Officer Sandra Ashley <br />Mefland Otto/Hakanson Anderson Associates <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Richard Cich <br />Councilmember Alan Pearson <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the regular City Council meeting to order at 7:42 p.m. and led in the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Joan Oellien - 5295 142nd Lane N.W. - Stated that she lives in Flintwood Hills and she is <br />concerned for the safety of children and adults crossing Hwy. 4/47 to get to River's Bend <br />Park. Joan Oellien inquired if a signalized pedestrian crosswalk, a walk bridge or a <br />signalized intersection is possible at 142nd and Hwy. #47. Joan Oellien also inquired if <br />there is any local, State or Federal funding available for walk bridges. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson noted that the County is intending to install signalization at the <br />intersection of Cty. Rd. #116 and Hwy. #47 upon completion of the Rum River Bridge; <br />Ramsey City Council will be considering urging the County to install the signalization prior <br />to or during bridge construction. <br /> <br />Police Chief Auspos stated that the State did a speed zone study on Hwy. #47 and <br />recommended reducing the speed limit from 50 mph to 45 mph up to Cty. Rd. #5. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann indicated that local, State and Federal funding has been cut and it is very <br />difficult to get fun. ds for any bridge, vehicular or pedestrian; it took 15 years to get the Rum <br />River Bridge. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann requested that Police Chief Auspos research the possibility of getting a <br />pedestrian crosswalk installed on Hwy. #47 to provide safer pedestrian access to River's <br />Bend Park. <br /> <br />City Council/September 12, 1989 <br /> Page 2 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
