Motion by Commissioner Shumway and seconded by Commissioner LaDue to amend the <br />minutes of the November 5, 1986 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to <br />reflect Terry Hendriksen's request for a waiver from the certificate of lot <br />survey requirement to construct a garage and addition to his home at 15631 <br />Ramsey Boulevard N.W. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Peterson, Commissioners LaDue, <br />Hendriksen, Howell, Deemer, Zimmerman, and Shumway. Voting No: None. Absent: <br />None. <br /> <br />Discussion Regardin~ Pole BuildinEs <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the intent of the zoning ordinance regarding pole <br />buildings in commercial areas. The Commission determined that the intent of <br />the ordinance is not to allow pole buildings if the B-i and B-2 districts and <br />to allow them in the I-1 district for storage buildings. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Deemer and seconded by Commissioner Howell to recommend <br />the intent of the zoning ordinance is to not allow pole buildings in the B-1 or <br />B-2 Business districts and to only permit pole buildings in the I-1 Industrial <br />district for storage structures. <br /> <br />Further discussion: The Commission noted the pole construction may be <br />permitted in residential areas on lots of less than 2-1/2 acres as long as the <br />facing on the structure is identical to that on the house. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Peterson, Commissioner Shumway, <br />Zimmerman, Deemer, Howell, Hendriksen, and LaDue. Voting No: None. Absent: <br />None. <br /> <br />Discussion R~ardin~ Dumpin~ <br /> <br />The Commission discussed whether the City should permit contractors who plow <br />snow in other cities to dump that snow in Ramsey. The Commission expressed <br />concerns regarding salt and sand in the snow as well as chemicals from vehicles <br />that may pollute the ground when the snow melts. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Deemer and seconded by Commissioner Hendriksen to <br />recommend that the City consider regulating contractors who haul in snow from <br />other cities by requiring a special permit to do so. <br /> <br />Further discussion: The Commission suggested that staff investigate the <br />possible environmental impacts and see how other cities may handle this. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Commissioners LaDue, Hendriksen, Howell, Deemer, <br />Zimmerman, and Shumway. Voting No: None.
