Councilmember Wise introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #12 -09 -130 <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 17 — 23, 2012 AS CONSTITUTION <br />WEEK <br />WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our <br />liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule by law; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, September 17, 2012, marks the two hundred twenty -fifth anniversary of the <br />framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent <br />document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which will <br />commemorate it; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the <br />President of the United States of America designating September 17 through 23 as Constituion <br />Week. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey proclaims the week of September 17 <br />through 23, 2012 as CONSTITUTION WEEK. <br />2) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey urges its citizens to study the Constitution, <br />and reflect on the privilege of being an American with all the rights and responsibilities <br />which that privlege involves. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Backous, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Wise <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />
