Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #12 -10 -151 CONSIDER A RESOLUTION TO HIRE PAID - ONCALL FIREFIGHTERS WHEREAS, the City Council authorized staff to begin a recruitment process for paid - on -call firefighters; and WHEREAS, a firefighter orientation meeting was held on July 9, 2012, followed by interviews, background checks, physical agility tests, work -style assessments, and pre- employment examinations; and WHEREAS, five candidates have successfully passed the requirements to become a City of Ramsey Firefighter; and WHEREAS, all five candidates will be subject to a 1 -year probationary period and the terms of the Personnel Policy; and WHEREAS, funding for these positions are part of the approved General Fund Budget. Per the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Nowthen, the City of Ramsey will be reimbursed for a portion of the salary for these positions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) Motions to approve Resolution #12 -10 -151, confirming the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, to hire Jeff Erickson, Alex Merritt, Mike Nelson, Adam Schrag, and Scott Windstrom as Paid -on -call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective October 10, 2012. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Backous, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Ramsey Councilmember Backous Councilmember Elvig Councilmember McGlone Councilmember Strommen Councilmember Wise and the following voted against the same: None and the following abstained:
