0ERHWGETMRK)\EQTPIMR'SQQIVGMEP>SRMRK(MWXVMGXW <br />(14)Landscapingandbuffering. <br />a.Sitelandscaping. <br />1.Minimumlandscapingrequirements.Allopenspaceareasofalotwhicharenotusedor <br />improvedforrequiredparkingareas,drivesorstorageshallbelandscapedwitha <br />combinationofoverstorytrees,ornamentaltrees,shrubs,flowers,groundcover, <br />decorativewalks,orothersimilarsitedesignmaterialsinaquantityandplacement <br />suitableforthesite.Areasonableattemptshouldbemadetopreserveasmanyexisting <br />treesasispracticableandtoincorporatethemintothedevelopment.Foreachexisting <br />significanttreeretainedoneoverstorytreecanbedeductedfromtheminimum <br />requirements. <br />2.Numberofplantings.Theminimumnumberofoverstorytreesonanygivensiteshallbe <br />asindicatedbelow.Theseareminimumrequirementsthataretypicallysupplemented <br />withotherunderstorytrees,shrubs,flowersandgroundcoversdeemedappropriatefora <br />completequalitylandscapetreatmentofasite. <br />Business Districts <br />Deciduous/coniferous 1 per 50 lineal feet of site perimeter, or 1 tree per 1,000 square feet of <br />treesbuilding footprint, whichever is greater. For expansions to buildings, 1 <br />additional tree is required for each 1,000 square feet of additional building <br />footprint area. <br />Shrub1 per 30feet of site perimeter or 1 per 300 square feet of building footprint <br />s <br />area, whichever is greater. <br />3.Minimumsizeofplantings.Landscapingmaterialshallbeofthefollowingminimum <br />plantingsize: <br />Landscape MaterialSize <br />Deciduous tree2.5 inches diameter as measured three feet above groun <br />sd <br />Coniferous tree6 feet in height <br />s <br />Deciduous shrub2 feet in height <br />s <br />Evergreen shrub2 feet in height or 2 feet in width, whichever applies <br />s <br />Ornamental tree1.5 inches diameter as measured three feet above ground <br />s <br />4.Plantingtypes. <br />(i)AcceptableplantingsshallbedeterminedbytheCityofRamseyTreeBook. <br />(ii)Thecomplimentoftreesfulfillingthelandscapingrequirementsshallbenotlessthan <br />25percentdeciduousandlotlessthan25percentconiferous.Nomorethan25 <br />percentoftherequiredplantingsshallconsistofornamentaltrees. <br />(iii)Forevery35feetofpublicroadfrontage,oneoverstorytreeshallbeplantedonthe <br />privatepropertyadjacenttothepublicroadright-of-way. <br />b.Topsoil.Allexposedgroundareasofasitenotoccupiedbybuilding,parkingorstorage, <br />excludingnaturalareasthatareleftundisturbed,shallbecoveredwithfourinchesoftopsoil, <br />asdefinedinsection117-1,oranapprovedalternativeasreferencedinsection117-348. <br />c.Soddingandgroundcover.Allareasnototherwiseimprovedinaccordancewithapproved <br />siteplansshallbefinishedwithsoduptotheedgeofimprovedstreets.Anyalternativetothe <br />sodrequirementshallrequirecitycouncilapproval. <br />
