Haakon Jarnes- 7207 142nd Avenue N.W. - Mr. James stated that he has contacted some
of the residents in Alpaca Estates regarding street lights and they were neither in favor of
them nor strongly opposed to them. Mr. James stated that with respect to the issue of
street lights providing for security, there has been very little criminal activity in Alpaca
Estates and the low lighting at night is appreciated.

Mr. Hartley stated that there may be some subdivisions where people want street lights and
one of the concerns the City is trying to work through is providing that level of service to
those persons that desire it when that same level of service is not provided throughout the
community and how that service can be justified and financed.

Keith Keefer - 6203 Rivlyn Avenue N.W. - Mr. Keefer stated that there are some
occasions where there is benefit to street lighting and he is concerned with the style of street
lighting that would be selected. Mr. Keefer stated that he would prefer to see a light style
with some aesthetic value selected for the area. Mr. Keefer suggested that funding be
arranged with some type of community fund raiser or some type of a beautification
program to provide lighting for those areas already existing that have been paying their
property taxes for many years. Mr. Keefer also stated that he does not believe that street
lights provide security, but that they are a benefit at intersections.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to adjourn
the public heating.

Motion carried.
