Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION # 13-02-038 <br />CONSIDER A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE STAFF TO RECRUIT FOR A <br />REPLACEMENT PATROL OFFICER POSITION FROM THE RECENT PATROL <br />OFFICER RECRUITMENT FILE <br />WHEREAS, the Police Department Patrol Officer staffing is currently down by two <br />officers ;and <br />WHEREAS, the reduction is taking its toll on the department by reducing scheduling <br />flexibility, reducing officers' ability to use vacation time, and creates a liability for the <br />department in the event that an officer would require an unplanned leave; and <br />WHEREAS, staff is requesting to recruit for a Patrol Officer from the recent Patrol <br />Officer recruitment file; and <br />WHEREAS, staff is confident that the next highest scoring candidate would be a good fit <br />for the department; or, at the very least, there are viable candidates left in the 125 remaining <br />applicants that were not interviewed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, <br />Confirms the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to do the following: <br />Motion to approve resolution # 13-02-038 to recruit for a Patrol Officer from the recent Patrol <br />Officer recruitment file in order to fill the position left vacant by the officer on an extended leave <br />of absence. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member, <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />this the 12th day of February 2013. <br />
