The City of Coon Rapids stated that it did have an Economic Development ,~uthority. <br />There are five members and they are all members of the City Council. The E. -D.A. meets <br />about fifteen to thirty minutes before the scheduled City Council meetings. The City staff <br />does the work and the E.D.A. makes the decisions. The E.D.A. was set up in order to get a <br />special project funded, that otherwise would not have been funded. <br /> <br />The City of Dayton stated that it did have an Economic Development Authority. There <br />are five members and they are all members of the City Council. The E.D.A. meets one <br />hour before their second scheduled council meeting. (The City will be sending some <br />information regarding their E.D.A.) <br /> <br />The City of Elk River stated that it did have an Economic Development Authority. <br />There are seven members - five council members and two citizens. The E.D.A. meets <br />twice per month and if necessary special meetings are called. (The City will be sending <br />some informalion regarding their E.D.A.) <br /> <br />The City of Maple Grove stated that it did not have an Economic Development <br />Authority. The City Council had mandated it. <br /> <br />The City of Monticello stated that it did have an Economic Development Authority. <br />There are seven members - two council members, two members of the Industry <br />Development Council, the chairperson of the H.R.A. and two members at large. The E.D.A. <br />meets on a quarterly basis and as necessary. There is a joint powers agreement between <br />the E.D.A., H.R.A. and the City Council. The City set up their E.D.A. to have more power <br />when it came to rezoning the front. (The City will be sending some information <br />regarding their E.D.A.) <br /> <br />After contacting the surrounding cities, the overall consensus was that it is beneficial to <br />the City to have an Economic Development Authority. The members of the E.D.A. do not <br />have to devote a lot of time. Many of the cities stated that their members usually met <br />right before the scheduled City Council meetings and the meetings lasted anywhere from <br />fifteen minutes to an hour. <br /> <br /> <br />
