Brooklyn Center <br />created the EDA for the restoration of the Earl Brown Farm. The EDA is the only entity <br />that would allow for the City to own and operate a facility. <br /> <br />Did the cities have an Economic Development Commission(EDC) along with an Economic <br />Development Authority. Have they used their authority to levy taxes and if they have <br />raised their taxes have they had any problems? <br /> <br />The City of Blaine stated that it did not have an EDC. The City of Blaine is not a Star <br />City and that is why they do not have an EDC. Their HRA became their EDA. The EDA has <br />issued an increase in taxes and the increase in taxes did not cause any problems. I was <br />told that the increase was small and he compared the increase to an increase for mosquito <br />control or for a city library. <br /> <br />The City of Brooklyn Center stated that it did not have an EDC. The EDA took the <br />place of the EDC. The EDA incorporated the HRA. Right now there is just the skeleton <br />framework of the HRA. The HRA was the only one to levy taxes. At this time the EDA has <br />not levied any taxes. <br /> <br />The City of Brooklyn Park stated that it did not have an EDC. The EDA took the place <br />of the EDC. They do have an HRA. The EDA has not levied any taxes at this time. <br /> <br />The City of Coon Rapids stated that it did have an EDC. They do have an HRA. The EDA <br />has not levied any taxes at this time. <br /> <br />The City of Elk River stated that it did not have an EDC. The EDA took the place of the <br />EDC. They do have an HRA. The EDA has issued an increase in taxes and the increase in <br />taxes did not cause any problems. I was told that the increase was small. <br /> <br />The City of Monticello stated that it did have an EDC. The EDA has not issued an <br />increase in taxes. <br /> <br /> <br />
