Defined contribution <br /> <br />direct that the funds be paid to the Treasurer of the City to be held in trust by him/her <br />and paid out only in accordance with these By-Laws. <br /> <br />SECTION 1. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION <br /> <br />Every active member of the Ramsey Fire Department shall be eligible to apply for <br />membership in the Association within 90 days from the date the applicant commenced <br />service as a firefighter. Application must be made on forms which are to be supplied by <br />the Association when the person commences fire department membership. The <br />completed application shall be accompanied by a physician's certificate attesting to the <br />applicant's sound health and that he or she is able to perform the duties of a firefighter. <br />The physician's certificate shall specifically include a statement as to the applicant's <br />EKG and lung condition. The firefighter's application must be acted upon by the <br />Association membership within six months from the date the applicant commenced <br />service as a firefighter. <br /> <br />The Association shall have the right to exclude from membership any applicant who, <br />due to some medically determinable physical or mental impairment or condition, would <br />constitute for the Association a predictable or unwarranted risk of the commencement of <br />a retirement benefit at any age earlier than the minimum age specified for receipt of a <br />service pension. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. MEMBERSHIP DUES <br /> <br />Each Association member who is a member of the Fire Department shall be assessed <br />annual dues in an amount of $28.00 per year. The dues shall be payable quarterly, that <br />is, every three months. Any member who fails to pay the quarterly assessment by the <br />end of the quarter following the three-month period for which the dues are owing, shall <br />not be considered a member "in good standing". Dues paying Association members <br />will be furnished with a wage deduction and authorization form which has been <br />approved by the City and the Association membership. New Association members <br />shall be obligated to pay dues commencing with the month in which the new member <br />was accepted into the Association's membership.
