Case #5: Engineering Department Status: <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley reported the Personnel Connnittee has forwarded the proposed job description, <br />employment agreement and advertisement for the City Engineer position to Cit.,,' Council for <br />review and approval. An itemized adverfisemenl schedule and cost estimate has also been <br />drafted. <br /> <br />City Council proceeded to review the materials presented. <br /> <br />Mr. Hanley noted that establishing an engineering department requires a commitment to <br />properly staff that department (one engineer, two engineering techs, one clerical support). <br />In making that commitment, Council should also keep in mind that with proposed <br />legislation, it is possible that Ramsey could see a $300,000 reduction in local government <br />aid. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cich and seconded by Councilmember DeLuca to approve the <br />job description, employment agreement and advertisement and authorize City Staff to <br />advertise for the position of City Engineer in the following publications: <br /> <br />Elk River Star <br />Anoka Count), Union <br />Minneapolis Star Tribune <br />League of Minnesota Cities <br />Minnesota Societ), of En~neers <br /> <br />Further, that the ads in the League of Minnesota Cities and Minnesota Society of Engineers <br />are contingent upon the cost of both the ads not exceeding $500.00 in total. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Acting Mayor Peterson, Councilmembers DeLuca, Pearson <br />and Cich. Voting No: None. Absent: M~ayor Reimann. <br /> <br />Case #6: Public Works Department Staffing: <br /> <br />Councilmember Cich stated that even though the addition of a full time person in the Parks <br />Department was approved during the budget process, he wants that position and the request <br />for an additional person in the Streets Department sent back to the Personnel Committee for <br />further review and study. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Cich to table action <br />on the request for Public Works Department staffing and to place the issue on the March <br />27, 1990 Personnel Committee meeting agenda for further discussion. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Acting Mayor Peterson, Councitmembers DeLuca, Pearson <br />and Cich. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Reimann. <br /> <br />Case #7: 1990 Fire Proteclion Contract With The City Of Anoka: <br /> <br />/~ir. Harfley stated that the proposed fire protection contract for 1990 was prepared by the <br />Anoka/Champlin Fire Department.
