CENTRAL PARK AND RIVER'S BEND PARK
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
By: Merland Otto

CASE

Background:

The 1990 approved Capital Improvements budget includes $10,000 for
play apparatus at Central Park and $7,500 for expansion of play
apparatus at River's Bend Park.

The existing apparatus at Central consists of wood and metal
components with a slide, sliding pole, platform and tire swing.

The park equipment to be installed at River's Bend is Landscape
Structures model 8974 (formerly 8746) a picture of which is
attached..

I will have several catalogs available at the meeting so that the
Commission can review and discuss possible acquisition. Generally,
it takes about six weeks to receive equipment after the order is
received. If at all possible, the Commission should make a
recommendation to Council for action at their April 24 City Council
meeting.

Installation probably would not occur until late June or July.

The Commission might wish to consider whether individual components
would be desired or whether additional multiple system structures
are preferred. Further consideration should be given to meeting
the needs of tots and handicapped users.

Commission Action:

Will be based on your discussion.

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
City Attorney
city Engineer
Community Development Dir.

X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer X
Public Works Supt.
