Twenty-two citizens and staff <br />Planners from neighboring communities, townships, and counties <br />attended. <br /> <br />Following is a summary of discussion and planned action for the <br />future: <br /> <br />The group agreed another conference is needed and should <br />be held in January or February of 1991, probably in Elk <br />River as a central location. Wright County should be <br />included along with City of Rogers (invited but could not <br />attend). <br /> <br />Conference should focus on i or 2 topics with a structured <br />agenda and identified goals. <br /> <br />3. Possible topics include: <br /> <br />- communications <br />- sign ordinances <br />- Model community planning process <br />- forum for visionary thinking and planning <br />- need for a regional planning newsletter <br />- commissioner training (need more than GTS & not always <br /> possible to attend) <br />- attorneys to present legal issues <br />- topic workshops and/or mobile workshops <br />- recycling <br />- economic development on a regional basis <br />- MORE time to share ideas and interact <br /> <br />Small group discussions resulted in possible agreements to <br />share workshop sessions, or meet with another community or <br />township to discuss current issues that affect both. <br /> <br />720 Dodge Avenue N.W., Elk River, Minnesota 55330 (612) 441-7420 <br /> <br /> <br />
