vegetation must be maintained. <br /> <br />Prohibited Locations for Construction and Operation of Solid Waste Management <br />Facilities. <br /> <br />An owner or operator may not establish or construct a solid waste management <br />facility in the following areas: <br /> <br />i. Within a floodplain <br /> <br />ii. Within a shoreland area governed by chapters 6105 and 6120. <br /> <br />iii. Within a wetland. <br /> <br />iv. <br /> <br />Within a location where emissions of air pollutants would violate the <br />ambient air quality standards in parts 7005.0010 to 7005.3060. <br /> <br />Mo <br /> <br />In areas where there are karst features, such as sinkholes, solution <br />channels, disappearing streams, and caves, which may cause failures of the <br />leachate management system or prevent effective monitoring or containment <br />of a release of leachate; .. <br /> <br />vi. <br /> <br />In areas where there are other unstable soil or bedrock conditions that may <br />cause failures of the leachate management system; or <br /> <br />vii. <br /> <br />Where an airport runway used or scheduled for use by turbojet aircraft is <br />located within 10,000 feet of the waste boundary, or an airport runway used <br />or scheduled for use by piston type aircraft only is located within 5,000 feet <br />of the waste boundary, unless approval is obtained from the Federal <br />Aviation Administration. <br /> <br />Within 1,000 feet of the nearest edge of the right-of-way of any state, <br />federal or interstate highway or of the boundary of a public park or of an <br />occupied dwelling. <br /> <br />ix. <br /> <br />Within 500 feet of an), known source of groundwater contamination or any <br />other known source of pollution. <br /> <br />An area where groundwater is contaminated or lies within the path of the <br />migration of contaminated groundwater. <br /> <br />7. REQUIRED BUFFER AREAS AND SCREENING FOR LANDFILL SITES. <br /> <br />The distance between an operational landf'fll and other land uses is critical in avoiding scenic blight, <br />land use compatibility, reduction of land values and nuisances from odor, dust, noise, vibration, <br />etc. Therefore, the following standards shall guide the review and_issuance of conditional use <br />permits. <br /> <br />Suitable buffer areas, berms, barriers and vegetation shall be provided to minimize <br />noise, odors, landfill gas migration, public safety, nuisances and other impacts on <br />adjacent properties. <br /> <br />b. Buffer area is considered suitable if there is a separation d/stance of 1,000 feet <br /> <br /> <br />
