Mayor Reimann noted that it is proposed to delete charges for certain
procedures and stated that requiring licensing is an effective way to
,~,aintain a listing of all businesses in Ramsey.

Mr. Hartl~y noted that one downfall to requiring licensing by all
businesses in Ramscy is that it implies the City is monitoring those
busi~,esses ~nd therefore assuming liability beyond the City's meant.

Mr. Hartley stated that he will be refining the list of services and
proposed charges and returning'it to Council for adoption at their
~rganizational meeting.

~.s.e ,~i City Ha!! Repair~.

Mr. Hartley 0tated that the City has solicited two estimates for glas~
repairs at City Hall; the low bid is $2,090 from North Star Glass; a better
price might be obtained by seeking more bids.

Motion by Councilmember Bawden and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to
authorize the City Administrator to seek additional bids and enter into an
agreement for repairs to windows in the Ramsey Municipal Center in an
amount not to exceed $2,090.00.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg,
DeLuca, Pearson and Bawden. Voting No: None.

Case Y~O; Bruce Bacon Actendin_~ of A_AAS Conference:

Jim Gromberg reported that the Landfill Commission has requested funding
in the amount of $1275 to underwrite a portion of the travel and
participation budget for Bruce Bacon to attend the annual meeting of the
American Association for the Advancement of Science meetings in San
Francisco, January 14-19, 1989. Mr. Gromberg noted that Mr. Bacon will be
attending the conference regardless of City support, but the Landfill
Commission feels that information gained at the conference will also be
helpful in the City's efforts to obtain a demonstration grant from Metro
Council for a decentralized brush chipping program.

Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Mayor Reimann to
appropriate $375.00 towards Mr. Bruce Bacon's attendance at the annual
meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
Conference in San Francisco in January, 1989.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg,
DeLuca, Pearson and Bawden. Voting No: None.

CONSENT AGENDA (CONTINUED);

Motion by Councilmember Pearson and seconded by Councilmember DeLuca to
approve the following items from the Consent Agenda:

3) License applications (with ~51-C being contingent upon City Staff
City Council/December 27, 1988
