Ramsey Final Report <br />Grant No. 05 -1237 <br />City of Ramsey <br />COMMERCIAL /ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />Philosophy /Principles <br />• Ramsey should create strong, sustainable economic development by fostering business growth <br />and establishment in the city. <br />• A business atmosphere that represents the character of Ramsey, both rural and family <br />orientation. <br />• Commercial development should support the entire community. It should seek to provide good <br />jobs and provide a variety of family friendly entertainment. <br />• All commercial development must outline and incorporate other component values. <br />• Attract and retain high - quality industrial and commercial business, which will create higher <br />paying jobs and increased tax base. <br />• Business establishment and growth will foster Ramsey's place as a destination in the north <br />metro. <br />Strategies /Process (How do we carry out principles ?) <br />• Try incentives for business. SORT OF LIKE: <br />• Make it easy to do business here. <br />• Expand sustainable economic development. <br />• Commercial development is logistically planned for maximal use of rail and highway arteries, <br />with minimal residential, environmental and traffic impacts. <br />• Commercial development concentrated within the urban service area. <br />• Ramsey should integrate commercial within residential development. <br />• Ramsey absolutely needs a Chamber of Commerce to find and develop business! with great <br />diversity <br />• Ramsey should have a long -term commercial development plan that recognizes the city's one <br />unique commercial asset the internet backbone on Highway 10. <br />Other <br />• Well - planned commercial park. <br />• Fulfill the original vision of Ramsey Town Center. <br />
