Ramsey Final Report <br />Grant No. 05 -1237 <br />City of Ramsey <br />TRANSPORTATION <br />Philosophy /Principles <br />Variety <br />• Ramsey will be a leader in bringing alternative forms of transportation to the community and <br />surrounding cities. <br />• The city should plan with multimodal connections as an integral part of every development. <br />• Ramsey should develop and enhance a variety of transportation. <br />• Ramsey should provide for life -cycle transportation that provides multiple alternatives to reach a <br />destination. Life -cycle = maintenance <br />• Light rail will provide a step in the direction of "un- noticed" transportation. All efforts should <br />embrace the reality of growth and use that opportunity to get it right from the beginning <br />Walkability <br />• Walkability <br />Safety <br />• All existing and future transportation will focus on safety. <br />Roads and Bridges <br />• Roads and bridges shall be a priority. <br />• Trails, trains, park(ing ?) should be secondary to roads and bridges <br />Strategies /Process (How do we carry out principles ?) <br />Design <br />• Focus on Highway 10 redevelopment and Northstar for east -west travel, redesign of Highway 47 <br />for north -south travel, and trails, sidewalks for walkability and connectivity. <br />• Developments should provide options that encourage non - motorized transportation. <br />• Design roads that allow free travel of vehicles to and from business to residential. (question <br />written by someone else on this card: "What is `free travel ? ') <br />• Work with mass transit and rideshare programs. <br />Corridors <br />• Plan ahead for good transportation corridors. <br />• Work with adjoining communities to plan for transportation corridors. <br />Trail connections <br />• Connections( ?) to existing trails. <br />• Utilize novel approaches to acquire and protect trail lands for the residents. <br />
