CASE #2:

REVIEW ORDINANCE WHICH ESTABLISHES THE PLANNqNG AND ZO!NqNG
COMMISSION AND THE PARK AND RECRF~TION COMMISSION
By: Mark S. Banwart~ Commnnity Development Director

Background:

It has been brought to the attention of the Ramsey Community Development
Department that ordinances which established a Planning and Zoning
Commission and the Park and Recreation Commission are different. For your
information, the following items are enclosed:

Planning and Zoning Commission establishment of Commission
Park and Recreation Commission establishment of Commission

Observations:

The Park and Recreation Commission establishment of Commission is much
more thorough in describing the components of why there is such a commission,
scope, objectives, duties and responsibilities, composition, members method of
selection and term of office, removal, rules and procedures, meetings and ex-
official members. The Planning and Zoning Commission establishment of
Commission lacks many of these considerations.

Recommendati6 ns:

Staff recommends that the Planning and Zoning Commission consider
modifications to appropriate City Ordinances which establish its Commission,
both for consistency with other Commissions establishment as well as the
specifics of orderly operation and mission of the Planning and Zoning
Commission.

Commission Action:

Based upon discussion.

Rexdew Checklist:

City Administrator X
City Attorney X
City Engineer , X
Community Development Director X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Park & Recreation Comm.
City Council

.X
.X
