Mr. Hartley stated that Mr. Arnold Klar is requesting an amendment to the conditional use <br />permit issned in 1984 in order to maintain 4 rather than 3 deliver3' n'ucks on his property at <br />1602(1 Potassium Street N.W. Ir: addition, Mr. Klar is requesting that the permit also list <br />accessory equipment th:tl has been maintained on the property since 1984 relating to the <br />firewood sales business. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann stated that if the opcr:~tion is growing, it is time to consider relocath,,g it out <br />of a reshlcntial area. Mayor Reimann also noted that the conditional use pemuit issued in <br />1984 requires that the firewood be stacked in the rear of the property; Mr. Klar wood pile <br />extends into the side yard. Mayor Reimann stated that the Fire Chief has also expressed <br />concerns with the manner in which the wood is stacked. <br /> <br />Mr. Klar stated that he has positioned the woodpile for easiest access by fire trucks; the <br />wood is stacked in a U shape to conceal the equipment from public view. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca stated that he viewed the property and if the wood were stacked in <br />the rear yard, the public would have a clear view of all the equipment. Councilmember <br />DeLuca inquired why another deliver), truck is necessar3' when Mr. Klar is to be the only <br />employee. <br /> <br />Mr. Klar sta~ed tha: he needs the 4 deliveu, truck to serve as a backup to the others in the <br />event of mechanical breakdown. Mr. Klar also mentioned that his cousin helps him deliver <br />wood on weekends during bus), times. <br /> <br />Council proceeded to re',,iew and amend the proposed findings of fact as follows: <br /> <br />Item #I5 should indicate that the proposed increase in delivery ~ucks will not be <br />harmonious with the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Item #10 should indicate that the increase in delivery trucks will increase traffic to <br />and from the subject property and that the Applicant has stated that there is an <br />additional weekend employee. <br /> <br />Amend Item #13 to indicate that the increase in vehicles will be. unduly dangerous to <br />persons residing/n the area. <br /> <br />Add an item to indicate that the additional truck will tend to increase the size of the <br />firewood sales operation in the residential neighborhhc, o~. <br /> <br />Add an item to indicate that the Applicant has stated that the additional deliveu, truck <br />is necessa,~., to serve as a backup when one of the three regular vehicles is not <br />operating. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson and seconded by Councilmember Cich to adop'. <br />Findings of Fac: ~.02-~6, as amended, relating to /{'[r. Arnold Klars reouest for a <br />conditional use pe,,,'mit to maintain one additional delive,'y truck on his prope~y at 16020 <br />Potassium Street N.W. <br /> <br />Motion canaled.
