CASE #12: <br /> <br />REQUEST TO REZONE THE PROPOSED PLAT OF JUNIPER WOODS <br /> FROM R-1 RURAL RESIDENTIAL TO R-1 URBAN RESIDENTIAL; <br /> CASE OF MR. DICK KNUTSON, BLH DEVELOPMENT COMPANY <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Mr. Dick Knutson is requesting approval to rezone the proposed plat of Juniper Woods from R-1 <br />Rural Residential to R-1 Urban Residential. The subject property is approximately 33 acres in size <br />and is located west of Rum Acres Estates and east of Gorham's Sandy Acres. <br /> <br />In March of 1988, a subdivision application was submitted to the City, proposing the extension of <br />sewer and water utilities and developing the property with approximately 76 single family <br />residential lots. Although the subject property is in the Urban Area, it is not within the 1990 <br />Urban Area. To extend municipal services to the proposed Juniper Woods would require an <br />amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for an expansion of the MUSA boundaries. On January <br />26, 1989, the City submitted a formal application to the Metropolitan Council for a MUSA <br />expansion.
