Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. The Mayors of Andover, Anoka and Ramsey invite you to join them <br />for the annual Mayors' Prayer Breakfast. This important event is scheduled for Friday, May 17th, <br />beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Fountains of Ramsey, 7533 Sunwood Dr NW, in Ramsey. Attached <br />to the Weekly Update is a flyer for the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. <br />Council Update <br />Successful Community Events were held last Saturday, May 4 with record crowds at both the <br />Recycling Event and the Business Expo. The weather was great for the Business Expo (cold & <br />wet) and an estimated 250 -300 people stopped by to visit the 48 exhibitors. Thanks to all the staff <br />that worked Saturday at these two events!! <br />City of Ramsey Receiving Recycling Award. 2012 marks the 9 consecutive year that the City <br />of Ramsey will be recognized by the Anoka County Board of Commissioners for exceeding its <br />annual recycling goal. Ramsey will be recognized for its continued recycling efforts on <br />Wednesday, May 15 at 3:OOpm at the Anoka County Government Center (7 Floor Board Room). <br />Ramsey residents recycled 2,477.52 tons of material in 2012, through both the curbside program <br />and the spring and fall recycling events. This is the equivalent of 209.36 pounds recycled per <br />person in Ramsey! Curbside recycling is provided by contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. for all <br />single family and townhome residences. Two apartment complexes are also serviced separately <br />by Allied Waste Services and Walters Recycling. Our 2012 goal for recycling was 2,130 tons and <br />thanks to the efforts of Ramsey residents, was easily surpassed. <br />Community Development/Development Services <br />• The Community Development Department has provided an update to current development <br />projects and draft policies as part of the Development Update. Attached to the Weekly <br />Update is the Development Update. <br />Fire Department <br />• Notable Responses: <br />o . 5/2- Mutual aid to Dayton to assist with the extinguishment of contents on fire on a 5 <br />acre parcel. Items included vehicles, silos, pallets, motorhomes, semi - trailers, fuel <br />drums and tires. 15 area departments responded to assist. <br />o 5/3- Dryer fire in the 14200 block of Xenon St NW. Unit arrived to fire out situation. <br />Crew checked for extension. <br />o 5/6- Grass fire in the 8100 block of 161' Ave NW. Unit arrived to fins 1/2 acre actively <br />burning. Crews extinguished and homeowner advised of burning regulations. <br />HR <br />• Prepared for and conducted interviews for the following positions: <br />o Parks Intern <br />o Admin Intern <br />o Patrol Officer <br />o Police Department Promotional Process <br />
