<br />Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #13-03-059 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO HIRE A CITY ENGINEER AND TO APPROVE A TRANSITION <br />PERIOD WITH THE ENGINEERING CONSULTANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />at the September 25, 2012, City Council meeting staff was authorized to <br />conduct a delayed recruitment process in January or February to fill the City Engineer position <br />which was left vacant as of June 29, 2012; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> a recruitment process was conducted and two candidates were interviewed; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />staff has completed the necessary background checks and is recommending <br /> <br />that Mr. Bruce Westby be hired as the City’s new City Engineer at $43.67 per hour, effective on <br />April 8, 2013, with a five day vacation credit; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />staff recommends extending Hakanson Anderson’s contract through Mr. <br />Westby’s start date of April 8, 2013; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />staff recommends retaining the Hakanson Anderson’s services for an <br />additional one-month period following Mr. Westby’s start date. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) Confirms the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to do the following: <br /> <br />Motion to approve resolution #13-03-059, which confirms the recommendation of the <br />Personnel Committee to do the following: <br /> <br /> <br />1)Hire Mr. Bruce Westby as the City’s new City Engineer, effective on April 8, 2013, at <br />$43.67 per hour (step 4 of the 2013 wage scale) with a credit of 5 vacation days; and <br /> <br />2)Extend Hakanson Anderson’s contract through Mr. Westby’s start date of April 8, 2013; <br />and <br /> <br />3)Retain Hakanson Anderson for an additional one-month period following Mr. Westby’s <br />start date, in order to ensure a successful transition and continuity of service within the <br />City. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the `foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Kuzma, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Strommen <br /> Councilmember Elvig <br /> Councilmember Kuzma <br /> Councilmember LeTourneau <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> Councilmember Tossey <br /> <br />
