Due to budgets, they have been forced to downsize. It appears they have had to let a couple <br />of reporters go from the Anoka office and an editor from the North Branch office. We are <br />grateful to Ms. Sakry for her years of reporting for and about our City and we wish her the <br />best in future endeavors. Staff has been advised that Eric Hagen will take over reporting for <br />Ramsey. <br />Community Development/Development Services <br />• The Community Development Department has provided an update to current <br />development projects and draft policies as part of the Development Update. Attached <br />to the Weekly Update is the Development Update. <br />Fire <br />IT <br />• Notable Responses: <br />o 5/25 Mutual Aid to Oak Grove for a structure fire. Crew assisted with <br />extinguishment and overhaul of residential home fire <br />o 5/26- Heroin overdose in the 7700 block of 156 Ave. Crew assisted with <br />patient care. <br />o 5/27- Grass fire in the 15900 block of St. Francis Blvd. Unit arrived to a fire <br />out situation. Crew checked for extension and watered down surrounding area. <br />o 5/28- Vehicle rollover on Hwy 10 east of Ramsey Blvd. Units arrived to find <br />single vehicle on side in median, no injuries. Crew assisted with traffic control. <br />• Received and configured new ID badge printer in the Police Department. This new <br />system will be compatible with current workstations and software, and will make it <br />much easier to produce staff IDs when needed. <br />• Attended a phone system demonstration at Matrix Communications on Friday the 24 <br />The IT department will be making a final review and recommendation regarding which <br />phone system and options would best benefit the City. <br />Police <br />• Volunteers. The Reserve and Explorer units from the City of Ramsey assisted in <br />searching for the missing two year old in Elk River this past weekend. Seven Reserves <br />and four Explorers spent their Saturday of the holiday weekend trying to locate the <br />missing child. Unfortunately, the story had a sad ending on Sunday when the child's <br />body was recovered from the river. Time and time again the Reserve and Explorer <br />units are called upon to assist when called upon. We thank them for their dedication. <br />• Literacy. Officers received a call of a vehicle driving through neighborhoods on the <br />wrong side of the street, early in the morning. Central Communications asked the <br />caller if it was the paper delivery person. The caller did not believe so because she did <br />not think the paper was delivered in Ramsey. Officers checked the area and did not <br />locate the vehicle. <br />• Inspection. On Wed 5/29/13, The Office of Juvenile Justice Programs (OJJP) <br />compliance monitor conducted an inspection of the Ramsey PD Class IV detention <br />facility. There were no violations and the Ramsey PD facility was in full compliance. <br />
