Motion by Commissioner Olds, seconded by Commissioner Shryock, to approve the following
Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes:
1)Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes dated May 10, 2007.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Olds, Shryock, Barr, and
Erickson. Voting No: None. Absent: Hansen, LaMere.
COMMISSION BUSINESS
Case #1:Consider Park Dedication for Bridgewater
ParksSupervisor Riverblood stated a preliminary plat application was submitted to develop 5
single-family lots on approximately 1.5 acres located at 14765 Nowthen Boulevard. The site is
on the east side of Nowthen Boulevard, north of Sunwood Drive. There is an existing house on
the site that will be removed to provide room for the proposeddevelopment. The development is
within the Prairie Recreation District.
ParksSupervisor Riverblood explained that precedence has been to requirethe developer to build
the trail shown on the Park and Trail Plan as partof that plat. What is unique about this is that
Council has approved the construction of a trail along County 5 from Lord of Life Church north
on the east side up to where it is going to be constructed on the old Municipal Center property
which will alsoconnect to the intersection of Alpine and County 5. He stated the City will
actually construct the trail whilethey are in the process of platapproval. He stated it is staff’s
intention that the developer not only pay the Park Dedication and Trail fees, but pay the
equivalent of what every other developer would pay for that segment.
ParksSupervisor Riverblood stated the Council’s goal was to provide a safer route to school
along County 5, and thatthe Lord of Life Church is the evacuation site for theschool.
Commissioner LaMere arrived at 6:45 p.m.
Commissioner Olds asked if the trail fees would cover the cost of trail construction.
Chairperson Johns stated this is a separate fee.
Motion by Commissioner Olds, seconded by Commissioner Erickson, to recommend Park and
trail dedication for Bridgewater Development to be paid in cash and any trails constructed by the
City adjacent to the plat be reimbursed by the development.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Olds, Erickson, Barr, LaMere,
and Shryock. Voting No: None. Absent: Hansen.
Park and Recreation Commission/June 14, 2007
Page 2of 6
