He thought the question <br />is if this is a good fit and he did not think this was a good fit for this area. <br />Mr. William Plethsole, 8113 142n Avenue, stated he was opposed to this even after what Ms. <br />Boden has said about the decibel levels because he did not believe that to be true. He stated there <br />is no sound barrier between the neighborhood and the facility, He stated Ramsey is growing and <br />they have homes and townhomes being built within a half mile of Diamonds. <br />Ms. Karen Brown, 7854 142n Avenue, stated an issue she was looking at was the habitat in their <br />backyard. It was her understanding they are in the Mississippi River Critical Area Program and <br />whatever happens in their corridor affects the wildlife. She stated they were concerned with the <br />wildlife and what they will do with all the noise. <br />Ms. Darlene Thompson, 7959 142n Avenue, stated she works for Allina and she was not happy <br />having events coming in that need police and ambulance. She stated she works early in the <br />morning every third weekend and thought they needed to consider that the neighbors do need <br />quiet time even on weekend evenings. She stated she was totally opposed to what is coming in <br />and there has got to be a better use for the property than to ruin their neighborhood. <br />Motion by Commissioner Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy, to close the public <br />hearing. <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Brauer, Cleveland, Hunt, Trites <br />Rolle, and Van Scoy. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Levine. <br />The public hearing closed at 8:05 p.m. <br />Commission Business <br />Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 8:05 <br />p.m. <br />Commissioner Van Scoy stated a lot of the concern is the noise. There are neighbors near by and <br />he wondered if there was anything they were looking at to mitigate the noise. <br />Mr. Gruber stated he can understand the concerns of the neighbors because he can hear the noise <br />from the Anoka County Fair seven days a week when it is there and he lives about a mile from <br />there. He stated one of the comments he would like to make to make the neighbors feel more <br />comfortable is that instead of having almost nine months of events, seven days a week at <br />Diamonds with the softball they would have about the same as the County Fair and instead of <br />having all the events going on in a weeks time, it is spread out. He stated the winter events are <br />not for sure and he would be willing to scrap them if needed. <br />Commissioner Cleveland asked what events would be the loudest ones and when would they <br />happen. <br />Planning Commission /October 4, 2007 <br />Page 5 of 9 <br />
