Council Update <br />Anoka County Library. The Anoka County Library on the Go will be holding an open house <br />on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. The open house will run from 4:00 — 7:00 p.m., with a special <br />ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature cookies, coffee, library card <br />applications, and much more! The new Anoka County Library on the Go service will offer a <br />book vending machine, lockers for reserved library books, an internal & external book drop, <br />an e -book rental kiosk, and a tablet vending machine. The Anoka County Library would like <br />the Mayor and Council to make a short public statement about this new partnership after the <br />ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Attached to the Weekly Update is a Flyer for the Anoka <br />County Library on the Go Grand Opening. <br />Rum River Hills Golf Course. Staff met this week with representatives of Rum River Hills <br />Golf Course about the possibility of relocating some holes and developing golf course <br />housing. Staff is researching cost estimates to bring utilities to this property and to construct <br />a tunnel under Highway #47, and whether housing on the Golf Course would support these <br />improvements. <br />Old Municipal Center Site Development. The City's Economic Development Authority <br />(EDA) and Council are in the process considering the future development of the "Old <br />Municipal Center Site." The City is considering two general development scenarios for the <br />20.5 acre site: (A) data center development and (B) residential development. <br />Today, the Old Municipal Center Site is zoned Public /Quasi Public. On Tuesday, June 12 the <br />Council considered submitting an application to the Planning Commission to amend the City's <br />Comprehensive Plan to allow for its future reuse. The Council decided to re- engage <br />surrounding property owners regarding the old municipal center site development before <br />submitting a Comprehensive Plan Amendment application to the Planning Commission; for <br />either type of use. <br />Staff is in the process of developing proposals for a study group to analyze a potential data <br />center development. There will be a five city meeting to discuss the Shared Fire Services <br />study done by Emergency Services Consulting International on June 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the <br />Alexander Ramsey Room. The five cities involved in this study are Ramsey, Nowthen, Oak <br />Grove, Bethel and St Francis. The consultant will take about one hour to go through a formal <br />presentation and then the meeting will be opened for questions. <br />
