1) <br /> <br />The Comparable Worth Study and at what level of compliance (if any) to State standard <br />or law we are bound to; where we are on this issue; the group or individulal(s) involved <br />in the decisions; the decision makers. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />The City budget process as il applies to the actual funding decisions for each of the <br />departments; item or project priorities versus needs; department heand input process; <br />future growth and allocation of personnel, service and equipment planning versus the <br />future growlh or stagnation patlerns of certain services and tax base according to the <br />population and citizen needs. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />What the stalus of employee contracl negotiations are; questions on contract negotiators <br />cost outlay to solve the contract issues versus city and employee attitudinal changes <br />(trust factor). <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />The immediacy of hiring additional law enforcement officers as had been provided for in <br />council actions in mid-1988. At the present time, we are running on the razors edge by <br />requiring mandatory overtime shift work to cover injuries, sick time and vacations. As <br />one who has experienced it personally and has seen it in others, both efficiency and <br />effectiveness are affected, causing additional problems with safety (both personal and <br />citizen welfare) and legal entanglements. <br /> <br />5) <br /> <br />I would like to see an increase of non-biased information for all members of the Council <br />prior to the decision making process. <br /> <br />6) <br /> <br />Additionally, 1 would like to see an enhancement of follow through procedures from <br />Commissions and/or Staff to the Council on items of business. My own previous personal <br />contact, which I felt was total disorganization on whomever's part, was a disaster to say <br />the lest. I believe that in mid-December planning sessions, the total Council's goal was <br />the selling of a better Ramsey to the general populace, and we just cannot afford to <br />conduct business in the same manner. <br /> <br />In summation, I would like to thank those people who assisted me with moral and voter support <br />during the last election and I would like to thank the seated Council for allowing me this time to <br />express my views and I look forward to future cooperative efforts between all members seated." <br /> <br />f) Comment regarding Fire Department - <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson stated that he recently attended a Fire Fighter class on handling <br />hazardous waste; the fire fighters are an impressive group and he is very proud of them. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to adjourn the <br />regular City Council meeting. <br /> <br />City Council/January 10, 1989 <br /> Page14 of 14 <br /> <br /> <br />
