COMPOSITION <br />The commission shall be composed of the City Administrator, two me,tubers of the City Council <br />appoinled annually at the first regular meetin~ of the City Council in Janua,3,', three Fire <br />Fighters nominaled and appointed by all fire fighters annually no later than January 15, one <br />person appointed by the City Council and the Fire Chief (ex officio). <br /> <br />G. MEMBERS METHOD OF SELECTION - TERM OF OFFICE REMOVAL <br />1. The chairperson shall be selected annually by a majority vole of the board. The <br /> chairperson may be removed by a majority vote of the board. The chairperson shall have <br /> the following responsibilities in addition to those otherwise described herein: <br /> a. Preside over all meetings of the board. <br /> b. Appear or appoint a representative to appear, as necessan~,, before the city advisory <br /> boards and the City Council to present the viewpoint of the board on matters pertaining <br /> 1o the fire safety function of the Cily as it relates to business under consideration by <br /> said board or City Council. <br /> c. Review all City Council, Planning Commission and other advisory board minutes and <br /> inform the Fire Board of matlers relevant to the fire safety function of the City. <br /> d. Provide liaison with other governmental and volunteer units in matters relating to the <br /> fire safety function of the City. <br /> e. Prepare agendas for each board meeting. <br />2. A vice chairperson shall be appointed annually by the chairperson. The vice chairperson <br /> shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the chairperson and shall assume <br /> responsibilities of the chair in the absence of the chairperson. <br />3. Members of the board shall be appointed by a majority vote of the City Council for terms of <br /> three years, except that any person appointed to fill a vacancy occurring prior to the <br /> expiration of the term for which his predecessor was appointed shall be appointed only for <br /> the remainder of such term. <br />4. Members of the board shall be residents of the City of Ramsey while serving on the board <br /> and shall represent a broad range of interest in the fire safety function of the City. <br />5. The board became effective on their first meeting on August 15, 19S8. <br />6. Members may resign voluntarily or may be removed from office by a majority vote of the <br /> City Council. Three consecutive unexcused absences from duly calied board meetings shall <br /> constitute automatic resignation from office. Vacancies in the board are to be fl,~d by City <br /> Council appointment with a majority w'.~te. <br />7. Mernbers shall serve without compens~,tion. <br /> <br />H. RULES AND PROCEDURES <br />The board shall asapt such rules and procedures not inconsistent with these provisions as may <br />be necessary for the proper execution and conduct of business. <br /> <br /> <br />
