Case ~ 4 STATUS OF GATEWAY AIRPORT By: Merland Otto Background: city council has requested an update on this history and status of the Gateway North Industrial Airport. Attached for your information are the following documents: o Copy of Resolution 86-167 outlining Council actions through 10/14/86 o Outline of significant actions since 10/14/86 o Description of proposed project (excerpt from Environmental Report) o Copy of Project Schedule w/major steps to completion o Preliminary cost estimates The current status of the project is that we are waiting for completion of FAA's review on the environmental document. The environmental review must be completed prior to submitting preapplication for funds. I will have an update of FAA's status at the 2/14 meeting. In the interim, the background info_--marion necessary for the preapplication has been undertaken. T~e~ - p~ ' t _e~' ~ ~,,~ The preapplication has not, however, been put into final fo_~m. Prior to submittal of the preapplication, the Council will be re.cuested to take action approving submittal along with providing the necessary assurances required by Mn/DOT and FAA. The enclosed airport development schedule indicates that we are approximately one year behind that which was proposed in 1986/!987. As you are aware, the Airport Zoning ordinance that had been adopted was defeated in the April 19, 1988 election. Thus an 5irport zoning ordinance still would need to be adopted at some point in the future. Action Required: No action is required at this time.
