SECTION X. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MAI~UAL <br /> <br />~) <br /> <br />Emergency Procedures <br /> <br />Develop a list of procedures to be followed by facility <br />personnel ~rom the discovery of an emergency until the <br />situation is corrected, include all measures that will be <br />used to minimize the occurrence, recurrence, or spread of <br />fires, explosions, and releases. Use additional pages if <br />necessary. <br /> <br />IN THE EVENT OF FIRE, THE PROCEDURES OUTLINED BELOW WILL BE <br />FOLLOWED: <br /> <br />The magnitude of the fire will be assessed and a <br />decision made on the need to contact t~e fire <br />department. This decision will be made by the <br />emergency contact personnel listed in Section 1) above. <br /> <br />Ail on-site personnel have received fire e>:tinguisher <br />training. On-site fire fighting equipment will be used <br />to put out the fire or deter the fire until the fire <br />department can arrive. Dry chemical fire extinguishers <br />are located on all on-Site equipment and in the <br />landfill office and maintenance building. ~ <br /> <br />After extinguishing the fire, resulting residue will be <br />removed from the site and disposed of in a licensed <br />landfill. <br /> <br />The cause of the fire will be determined and measures <br />taken to eliminate such a recurrence. These measures <br />may include, but are not limited to, eliminating on- <br />site vegetation and replacing faulty equipment. <br /> <br />IN THE EVENT OF MEDICAL EMERGENCY, PROCEDURES OUTLINED <br />BELOW WILL BE FOLLOWED: <br /> <br />Emergency contact personnel listed in Section 1) above <br />and all other on-site personnel have received CPR <br />training and "Right-To-Know" first aid training. In <br />the event of a medical emergency, the emergency <br />response number (911) will be dialed immediately. <br />Trained on-site personnel will provide CPR to the <br />injured individual(s) if needed prior to arrival of <br />medical assistance. <br /> <br />Figure No. 3 illustrates the'fastest route between the <br />proposed site and the nearest hospital (Mercy <br />Hospital). In the event that medical assistance is not <br />available or cannot get to the site in a timely manner, <br />this route shall be used by site personnel to transport <br />injured individual(s) to Mercy Hospital. <br /> <br />88W5-15 <br /> <br /> <br />
