BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> Anoka County, Minnesota <br /> <br />DATE: April 18, 1989 RESOLUTION #89-29 <br /> <br />OFFERED BY COMMISSIONERS: Erhart, Haas Steffen, Burmah, Langfeld <br /> Kordiak, Cenaiko and McCarron <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 24-30, 1989 <br />· DISABIMTY AWARENESS WEEK' <br /> AND MAY 7, 1989, <br /> 'NATIONAL BARRIER AWARENESS DAY' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than 37 million citizens (over 600,000 in the State of Minnesota) have <br />physical or mental Impairments which can prevent their full participation in community and national <br />life; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Legislature and Governor Perpich proclaimed April 24-30, <br />1989, as "Disability Awareness Week" and President Bush proclaimed May 7, 1989, as "National <br />Barrier Awareness Day" and they urged increased public awareness of the capabilities and <br />accomplishments of America's 37 million persons with disabilities; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, communities are where disabled and non-disabled people live, work and <br />interact, and where the greatest barriers to full participation of disabled persons are found, and <br />where opportunities for constructive change must be pursued: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners <br />encourages the efforts of cities, towns, organizations and agencies throughout Anoka County tn <br />support of programs and projects to improve the lives of disabled persons. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim April 24-30, 1989 as "Disability Awareness Week" in Anoka County and May 7, 1989, as <br />"National Barrier Awareness Day". <br /> <br /> BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the North <br />Suburban Consumer Advocates for the Handicapped, the Anoka County Council of/for Persons with <br />Disabilities, the Minnesota State Council for the Handicapped, the Girl Scout Council - Greater <br />Minneapolis, the Boy Scouts of America Viking Council, Inc., and the cities and townships of Anoka <br />County. <br /> <br /> YES <br /> <br />District #I - Haas Steflen X Haas Steffen <br />District #2 - Burmah X Burmah <br />District #3 - Langfeld X Langfeld <br />District #4 - Kordiak X Kordiak <br />District #5 - Cenaiko X Cenaiko <br />District #6 - McCarron X McCarron <br />District #7 - Erhart X Erhart <br /> <br />NO <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA ) SS <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> <br /> I, John "Jay" McLinden, County Administrator, Anoka County, Minnesota, hereby cerlify that <br />I have compared the foregoing copy of the resolution of the County Board of said County with the <br />original record thereof on file in the Administration Office, Anoka County, Minnesota, as stated in <br />the minutes of the proceedings of said Board at a meeting duly held on April 18, 1989, and that <br />the same is a true and correct copy of said original record and of the whole thereof, and that said <br />resolution was duly passed by said Board at said meeting. <br /> <br /> Witness my hand and seal this 18th day of April, 1989. <br /> <br /> Jj;~h "J,q~" M"cLINDE'~" <br /> COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br /> <br /> <br />
