Councilmember Strommen stated that her understanding is that the likely owner would be the
City, but that doesn't mean all the funding has to come from the City, which is why she thinks
City Administrator Ulrich is talking about bringing these other groups in to pursue other funding
options.
Mayor Gamec stated that this piece of land is a real asset to the City and the things it could be
used for are unbelievable. He stated that, at one time, they were trying to work with the Rum
River Central Park for a canoe landing at the Scout Camp.
There was a consensus by the Council to form a study group.
Mayor Gamec suggested staff also contact Jim Abeler to discuss this issue.
Councilmember Elvig stated that he thinks the Scouts want to move the land and he thinks it may
be able to be done fairly cheaply. He stated that there may even be a way to split the camp so the
Scouts can keep a portion of it.
Councilmember Dehen asked if there is a boat launch in the Scout Camp.
Councilmember Elvig stated that there is a boat launch.
Mayor Gamec stated that it is a dirt launch and would work for a fishing boat, but was better
suited for canoes.
Councilmember Elvig asked if there was any interest in conservation easement for the property.
Councilmember Strommen stated that it could certainly be a possibility.
MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT
None
ADJOURNMENT
The Work Session of the City Council was adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kurds G.
