Possible Board and Commission Interview Questions from Staff Liaisons EDA The City has designated a certain area as "blighted". The City has been working to clean up the area to provide higher quality development. Give us an idea of your vision for how the City could redevelop this area to increase economic development in the City. The City is interested in completing a marketing project. Provide some ideas on who the City should target as their audience and how to execute a successful marketing project. Provide some ideas on why the City should hire a consultant to complete a marketing study in an area that has been determined "blighted" or under valued. When, or should, the financial tools that the City has available for economic development be used (e.g., TIF, Revolving Loan Fund )? Could you explain what Tax Increment Financing is and how it can be used to assist in economic development? What types of businesses do you think the City of Ramsey should target for recruitment? Ramsey has certain areas in the City that are "blighted". It has been past practice to focus redevelopment efforts in these areas. Do you think the EDA should maintain this focus on redevelopment or should it shift toward other types of development? Company X is looking for a location to land its new 100,000 S.F. manufacturing facility. There are other communities marketing for this company and the company has narrowed its choices to Ramsey and two other metropolitan cities. If you were the person in charge of negotiations sitting down with the manager of the proposed company, how would you market Ramsey?
