ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING EROSION CONTROLS <br />AND LIMITING THE WAKE FROM BOATS <br /> AND WATERSKIING ON THE LOWER RUM RIVER <br /> <br />Anoka County does ordain: <br /> <br /> Section is hereby added to the county's Code of Ordinances <br />and shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Water Craft ~ ~rosion - Lower Rum River <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />purpose. The limitations contained in this ordinance are <br />designed to prevent and limit the erosion which is <br />occurring to the banks and shoreline of the Lower Rum <br />River. The heavy wake from boats creates wave action <br />which is eroding the shoreline, banks, and bluffs ~long <br />the river and is adverse to the public's interest in <br />maintaining and preserving the shoreline. Swimmers, <br />people canoeing, and other people using the river more <br />passively are placed in jeopardy by fast boats and wave <br />actions, and this ordinance-is designed to protect the <br />health, safety, and general welfare of the public. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Requlations. <br /> <br />Minimum Wake Restrictions. No person shall <br />navigate, place, maintain, or operate any boat, <br />motor boat, or watercraft of any kind upon the Rum <br />River in the areas herein designated quiet waters <br />at a speed which results in more than a minimu__~m <br />wake. <br /> <br />Waterskiinq Restricted. No person shall <br />navigate or operate any boat or watercraft <br />pulling a water skier nor shall anyone engage in <br />· waterskiing in a quiet waters area as defined <br />herein. <br /> <br />Ouiet Waters Areas. <br /> <br />1. Ail that part of the Rum River from its <br />confluence with the Mississippi River upstream to <br />the City of Anoka's municipal boundary shall be <br />considered a quiet water. <br /> <br />2. That part of the Rum River from <br /> to in the City of Ramsey <br />shall be considered a quiet water. <br /> <br />3. That part of the Rum River from <br /> to in the City of <br />Andover shall be considered a quiet water. <br /> <br /> <br />
