Meeting Date: 09/24/2013 Submitted For: Patrick Brama, By: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services Information Title: Potential Future Business Park Land (Update Only) Background: In 2012, the Ramsey Economic Development Authority (EDA) and City Council identified a shortage existed in property available for development by businesses in Ramsey (outside of The COR). As a result, the Ramsey EDA and Council identified securing a future "Business Park" location as a strategic priority in early 2013. Beginning in May 2013, the EDA began reviewing potential future Business Park locations. In August 2013, the Ramsey EDA crafted a recommendation to be considered first by the Planning Commission and subsequently the City Council. Before said case is brought before the City Council, the EDA would like to conduct and review a feasibility study. Additionally, the Planning Commission would like to conduct a public open house to gather input regarding potential future land use changes. For reference purposes, attached to this case is the recommendation made by the EDA in August. Staff anticipates a detailed case (final product) to be brought to the City Council in January 2014. The purpose of this case is to update the Council on EDA efforts regarding a future Business Park; and for Staff to take general comments and guidance from the Council (no action required). Observations: BAttached to this case are three important documents: (1) Reference Map: Outlines which properties have been considered and reviewed by the EDA (2) Comparison Chart: Outlines detailed information regarding each potential future business park (3) EDA Recommendation: Outlines preliminary direction from the EDA NOTE: due to location and economics, the EDA did not focus as much research time into properties #4, #5 and #6 (in comparison to #1, #2 and #3. This is reflected in the comparison chart.
