CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 09/24/2013 <br />Submitted For: Grant Riemer, Engineering/Public Works <br />By: MaryJo Warner, Engineering/Public Works <br />Information <br />4. 3. <br />Title: <br />Accept Resident Petition to Consider the Installation of a Stop Sign at the intersection of Potassium Street and <br />143rd Circle <br />Background: <br />On September 17, 2013 staff received a petition from residents in the neighborhood near the intersection of <br />Potassium Street and 143rd Circle. They are requesting the installation of a stop sign at this intersection (see <br />attached maps). <br />City Charter requires the Council to receive all petitions submitted at the next available meeting. Traffic related <br />requests such as this are typically forwarded to the Public Works Committee for review and comment prior to <br />coming before the City Council for final direction. The action item for this case is to accept the attached petition <br />and forward to the Public Works Committee for Consideration. <br />Notification: <br />The organizer of the petition will be notified that this item is being placed on the City Council consent agenda to <br />accept the petition. He has already been instructed on the process that is required to investigate the matter, and the <br />approximate timing to complete the analysis. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />City policy requires 5 signatures from residents within a 500 foot radius of the intersection requesting the traffic <br />control change before the traffic study can move forward. Staff has reviewed the petition and it meets this <br />requirement <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends accepting the attached petition and forwarding to the Public Works Committee for consideration. <br />Funding Source: <br />The investigation and analysis of this petition request will be accomplished utilizing staff time. <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to accept the attached petition, for the installation of a stop sign at the intersection of Potassium Street and <br />143rd Circle and forward to the Public Works Committee for consideration. <br />Petition <br />Map <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />
