Anoka County Sewage Treatment Ordinance <br />Technical Differences <br />September 19, 2001 <br />As required by 7080.0305 Subp. 2.E., the foliowing information discloses the technical <br />differences of the Anoka County Sewage Treatment Ordinance from the rules of the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br />1. Imminent PubIic Health and Safety Threat and failing system. An individual <br />sewage treatment system that poses an imminent threat to Public Health and <br />safety must be brought into compliance within 45 days unless there are <br />extenuating circumstances. A failing system must be brought into compliance <br />within 24 months after receiving notice from the county. <br />2. 7080.0130 Subp. 3.A. Minimum septic tank sizing: 2 bedroom home, 1,000 gailon <br />with effluent filter; 3 & 4 bedroom home, 1,500 gallons with 2 compartments or <br />multiple tanks with equivalent Iiquid capacity; 5 & 6 bedroom home, 2,000 gallons <br />with 2 compartments or multipte tanks with equivalent capacity; 7or more bedroom <br />home, septic capacity shall be sized as an Other establishnient. Aerobic tanks <br />must be equipped with trash traps sized according to the manufacturers <br />recommendations. <br />3. 7080.0125 Subp. 2. DweIIing Classifications 11, 111 and IV have been deleted and <br />onlyclass 1 design fiows can be used. <br />4. 7080.0150 Subp. 3.D. 1/8" to 1/4" perforations are allowed. Perforations 5/32 inch <br />diameter or smaller must have orifice shields and pumps must be equipped with <br />effective filters. <br />5. Table IV, 7080.0170, Subp., 1.F. has been amended to includetheword occupied <br />following building. This change aliows soil treatment areas to be closer than 20 <br />feet to an unoccupied building. <br />6. 7080.0170 Subp. 2.B. (3), graveless pipe. Unless pretreatment is used, lineal feet <br />of piping must be increased 50%. <br />7. 7080.0170 Subp. 2. Table Va. The absorption ratio for mounds with fine sand soll <br />texture and single grain soU structure is changed from 1.0 to 2.0. <br />8. 7080.0178, Subp., 2.D. When an Other System utilizes a pumping tank, timed <br />dosing must be used. <br />9. 7080.0178 and 7080.0179. Other and Performance Systems are allowed for <br />reconstruction, and new construction only when it can be shown that a standard <br />system can not be constructed or is not the best choice. <br />
