Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #89-07- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENTERING INTO A REVISED JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FORMING A <br />COALITION OF METROPOLITAN COMMUNITIES WITH THE NORTHERN MAYORS <br />ASSOCIATION WHICH REFLECTS A NAME CHANGE TO THE "NORTH METRO MAYORS <br />ASSOCIATION" (NMMA) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the' City of Ramsey is a parlicipating member of the Norlhern <br />Mayors Association; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Northern Mayors Association has taken action to change the name <br />of the Northern Mayors Association to the North Metro Mayors Association (NMMA) as well as <br />make some minor non-substantative language changes to the joint powers agreement; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59 authorizes two or more <br />governmental units to enter into an agreement for a joint and cooperative exercise of any power <br />common to the contracting parties. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> I ) That the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized to enter into <br />a revised joint powers agreement with the North Metro Mayors Association (NMMA) to form a <br />coalition of metropolitan communities organized to promote economic development and <br />transportation projects within the communities which comprise the NMMA. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br /> and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this <br />the 25th day of July, 1989. <br /> <br />2-? <br /> <br /> <br />
