Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #89-07- RESOLUTION ENTERING INTO A REVISED JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FORMING A COALITION OF METROPOLITAN COMMUNITIES WITH THE NORTHERN MAYORS ASSOCIATION WHICH REFLECTS A NAME CHANGE TO THE "NORTH METRO MAYORS ASSOCIATION" (NMMA) WHEREAS, the' City of Ramsey is a parlicipating member of the Norlhern Mayors Association; and WHEREAS, the Northern Mayors Association has taken action to change the name of the Northern Mayors Association to the North Metro Mayors Association (NMMA) as well as make some minor non-substantative language changes to the joint powers agreement; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59 authorizes two or more governmental units to enter into an agreement for a joint and cooperative exercise of any power common to the contracting parties. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: I ) That the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized to enter into a revised joint powers agreement with the North Metro Mayors Association (NMMA) to form a coalition of metropolitan communities organized to promote economic development and transportation projects within the communities which comprise the NMMA. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 25th day of July, 1989. 2-?
