CASE ;!~ 6 <br /> <br />REDISTRICTING OF PRECINCTS/POLLING PLACES <br />BY WILLIAM K. GOODRICH, CITY ATI'ORNEY <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> On January 24, 1989 the Council passed a [esolution to change the boundaries of <br />Precincts #1 and #3 into two smaller precincts together with establishing new polling. On <br />February 21, 1989 the Election Division of the Secretary of State's Office contacted the City <br />stating that the new Precinct 3 boundaries do not conform to state law requirements, in that the <br />state contends that the precinct's boundaries do not follow visible, clearly recognizable physical <br />features. The state is therefore requiring an amendment to the Precinct 3 boundaries. <br /> <br /> Staff has therefore redrawn the precinct boundaries and polling place designations which <br />have been approved by Anoka County, and should therefore by acceptable. <br /> <br />Enclosures: <br /> <br />( 1 ) February 21, 1989 letter from the Secretary of State's Office. <br /> <br />( 2 ) Map showing proposed precincts and polling places. <br /> <br />( 3 ) Proposed resolution adopting the new precincts and polling places. <br /> <br />Recommendations: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that Precinct 3 by divided as shown on the attached map and that the polling <br />places for all of the City's precincts be as follows: <br /> <br />Precinct Polling Place <br /> <br />1 - A Ramsey Elementary School <br />1 - B City Hall <br />2 City Hall <br />3~ A Central Park <br />3 - B St. Anthony Gun Club <br /> <br />Resolution 89-02-17 should be amended by a new resolution to reflect the above. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #89-08-.. which is a Resolution amending Resolution #89-02- <br />17 and which new Resolution establishes the City's precincts and polling places. <br /> <br />/02 <br /> <br /> <br />
