Councilmember <br /> <br />introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #89-08- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REDISTRICTING OF PRECINCTS AND ESTABLISHMENT <br />OF POLLING PLACES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on November 16, 1988, Council received complaints of long voting <br />lines at Precincts 1 and 3 and directed the Community Development Director to research <br />population numbers in all the precincts to determine whether the boundaries need adjusting or <br />polling places need to be expanded; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on January 24, 1989, the City Council adopted Resolution #89-02- <br />17 dividing Precincts 1 and 3 into Precincts l-A, I-B and 3-A, 3-B respectively; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by letter dated February 21, 1989, the Minnesota Secretary of <br />State's Office advised that the precinct boundaries adopted for Precinct 3 do not comply with <br />state law; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed its previously adopted Resolution #89-02- <br /> <br />17 of; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council now desires to amend Resolution #89-02-17 by <br />changing the boundaries of Precinct 3 and by changing polling places. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1 ) That existing Precinct 3 be divided into Precincts 3-A and 3-B using <br />County Road #83 as the East/West dividing line. <br /> <br />2 ) That existing Precinct 2 will remain unchanged. <br /> <br /> 3 ) That existing Precinct 1 will be divided into Precincts 1-A and 1-B. The <br />dividing line between these two precincts will be Sunfish Lake Boulevard Northwest (County <br />Road #57). <br /> <br />4 ) The Polling Place for each of the City's precincts will be as follows: <br /> <br />PRECINCT <br /> <br />POLLING PLACE <br /> <br />1-A Ramsey Elementary School <br />1-B City Hall <br />2 City Hall <br />3-A Central Park <br />3-B St. Anthony Gun Club <br /> <br />Motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> <br />
