REQUEST FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT RENEWAL FOR <br />WELDING BUSINESS AT 17801 ST. FRANCIS BLVD. N.W.; <br />CASE OF MR. MICHAEL BAEHR <br /> By: Planning Assistant Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On May 10, 1988, the City Council issued a conditional use permit to Michael Baehr to operate a <br />welding business from his accessory structure at 17801 St. Francis Blvd. N.W. That permit <br />contained a one year expiration date with the option for renewal. Mr. Michael Baehr has indicated <br />that the business is just getting started and is requesting a two year renewal of the Conditional Use <br />Permit. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Planning Assistant Frolik directed Community Development Inspector Lutmer and Fire Cifief <br />Hoeke to inspect the subject property to determine compliance with the terms of the existing <br />conditional use permit. <br /> <br />Mr. Lutmer inspected the property on August 8 and reported that it appears Mr. Baehr is <br />complying with all terms of the conditional use permit. Mr. Lutmer has also indicated that he has <br />received no complaints regarding Mr. Baehr's operation. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Hoeke inspected the property on August 11 and reported that the tank cylinders were <br />properly secured, hoses were in excellent condition, no combustibles were stored near the welding <br />area and a fire extinguisher was provided for. <br /> <br />For your information, the following items are enclosed: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br /> <br />Site location map <br />Conditional use permit issued in 1988 <br />Proposed conditional use permit renewal <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Mr. Baehr's welding business is a minimal operation and City Staff recommends approval of the <br />request for a two year renewal of the conditonal use permit. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Approve/deny Mr. Michael Baehr's request for a two year renewal to the conditional use <br />permit to have a welding business in the accessory structure at 17801 St. Francis Blvd. <br />N.W. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />City Attorney <br />City Engineer <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Communiry Development Inspector ")~ <br />Fire Chief X <br />Planning Assistant .
