Highway Engineer 1440 BUNKER LAKE BLVD NW, ANDOVER, MINNESOTA 5530. 612-754.3520 April 13, 1989 Mr. Jonathan Rambosek 16275 Uranium Street NW Ramsey, MN. 55303 Telephone Number 753-1268 Regarding: County Ditch Crossing 159th Avenue NW Dear Mr. Rambosek: We have reviewed your request for information concerning a proposed crossing of County Ditch ~umber 3, otherwise known as County Ditch Number 66 in Section 15, of the city of Ramsey. The specific location is between County Road Number 56 and County State Aid Highway Number 5. %n reviewing your request for culvert size in this particular location, we have reviewed the size of the culvert installed under County State Aid Highway Number 5 which would be down stream from the subject crossing. The crossing on County State Aid Highway Number 5 inplace is a 36 inch reinforced concrete pipe approximately 140 feet in length with aprons at each end. In order to accommodate the flow, we would require that your crossing be installed using a 36 inch reinforced concrete pipe with aprons mt either end or a 42 inch corrugated metal pipe with a minimum thic)~ness of 12 gauge with flared ends installed at either end. The grade of the culvert should be such that the invert is installed approximately 9 inches below the apparent ditch bottom as it exists today. This 9 inches to accommodate future cleaning of the ditch and in an effort to install the culvert closer to the elevation of the ditch as originally constructed. If in your excavation work you can dete.~-mine the actual elevation of the original grade of the ditch by inspecting the cuts and material which has silted into the bottom, please ins%a!l the culvert at that elevation.
