CASE <br /> <br /> ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />PROVISIONS OF THE WATER AND SEWER UTILITIES CHAPTER <br /> <br />By: Merland Otto <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />on July 13, 1989, MetropolStan Council approved the City's request <br />for expansion of the MUSA area. As a condition of approval, the <br />city agreed to amend certain provisions of its City Code pertaining <br />to sewer connections. This-amendment defines when municipal <br />conforms with the definition of the Metropolitan Waste Control <br />Commission. The Ordinance amending Chapter 210.2 was introduced <br />August 22, 1989. <br /> <br />Council considered the amendment at their September 12, 1989 <br />meeting and tabled the case until September 26. Council desired <br />to know the number of homes and businesses which would be affected <br />by this ordinance. <br /> <br />A windshield survey of the area indicated that there are 26 <br />businesses and.seven residences which now have sewer available on <br />the Mississippi interceptor. Thus far, five businesses and two <br />residences of the total have been identified as are currently being <br />connected. A few others have e)~ressed their desire to connect <br />within the next year. <br /> <br />Adoption of this amendment simply defines when municipal sewer is <br />determined to be available in accordance with MC and MWCC <br />definitions. Chapter 210.2, Section 1 of the City Code currently <br />requires connection within two years of sewer becoming available. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the adoption of the amendment to Chapter 210.2 <br />known as the Water and Sewer Utilities Chapter of the City Code. <br /> <br />council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt/not adopt Ordinance 489- which amends Section <br />210.2 Subdivision 3 of the Ramsey City Code; known as the Water and <br />Sewer Utilities Chapter of the city Code. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />City Administrator X <br />city Attorney X <br />city Engineer X <br />Community Development Dir.
