I. RELIEVER INVENTORY

a

The major urban focus areas of the study are the cities of Minneapolis and
St. Paul, Minnesota. The study area as it relates to aircraft registrants,
however, also includes the following counties:

Minnesota Counties

Washington Isanti
Anoka Sherbourne
Hennepin Wright
Carver McLeod
Dakota Sibley
Scott LeSueur
Ramsey Rice
Chisago : Goodhue

Wisconsin Counties

Pierce
Polk
St. Croix

The focus of all study work efforts is on the reliever aJa'ports serving
Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP).

EXISTING AIRPORT SYSTEM

The existing airport system addressed in this study consists of Minneapolis/St.
Paul International Airport and its seven designated reliever airports. Other
general aviation airports in the area will be addressed as appropriate. Other
area airports will also be analyzed primarily to determine their ability to
supplement the existing reliever system.

The reliever airports in the metropolitan area are intended to reduce
congestion at MSP by providing general aviation pilots with alternative landing
and training areas. In addition to the existing system, several sites being
considered for new airport development were included in the inventory.
These include Waconia/Carver County and Metropolitan Council Airport
Search Area Site A.

-1-
