Councilmember introduced th6 following resoiJtion and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #89-11- RESOLUTION REQUESTING MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO RELAX WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS ON THE FERRY STREET/MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGE WHEREAS, the Economic Development Commission of the City of Ramsey has recently completed the 1989 Business Retention and Expansion Survey; and WHEREAS, the Business Retention and Expansion Survey showed an adverse economic impact on the City's businesses by the weight restrictions on the Ferry Street/Mississippi River Bridge; and WHEREAS, the Economic Development Commission of the City of Ramsey requested Council action to request that the Minnesota Department of Transportation relax the weight restrictions; and WHEREAS, the proposed temporary bridge has been given priority construction status and completion is expected in 1991. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1 ) That the Minnesota Department of Transportation study the new bridge replacement schedule and the safety requirements to determine if the current weight restrictions on the Ferry Street/Mississippi River Bridge could be relaxed. 2) That the Ramsey City Council continue its support for the timely completion of the Ferry StreeVMississippi Bridge Replacement Project. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council on this the 14th day of November.
