BOARD OF ~,OUNT¥ COMMISSIONERS <br /> Anoka County, Minnesota <br /> <br />DATE: October 17, 1985 RESOLUTION #89-124 <br /> <br />OFFERED BY COMMISSIONERS: Kordiak, Haas Steffen, Burman, Langfeld <br /> lVicCarron and Erhart <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING NOVEMBER TO BE <br /> EPILEPSY MONTH IN ANOKA COUNTY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there are more than 100,000 Minnesotans with some form of epilepsy, which is not a <br />disease but a disorder of the central nervous system; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these Minnesotans are a significant portion of some 2,000,000 Americans from <br />throughout the country who have epilepsy; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, 60 percent of those persons who have epilepsy are elementary 'school age or younger; <br />and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in Minnesota there is approximately one child in every other classroom with epilepsy; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, epilepsy is the second most common neurological disorder or physical impairment; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, with early diagnosis and attention to medical, social and neurological aspects more <br />people will be able to bring their seizures under partial or full control; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, everyone generally needs more information about epilepsy, its causes, and what can <br />be done to help in order to change public attitudes from rejection to understanding and acceptance: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim November to be: <br /> <br />EPILEPSY MONTH IN ANOKA COUNTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to all cities and townships <br />within Anoka County in the hope that similar resolutions from local governments could be adopted. <br /> <br /> BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that through these efforts by governments within Anoka County all <br />citizens will have a greater understanding of epilepsy so that people with epilepsy will be better able <br /> <br />to take their rightful place in the mainstream of American society. <br /> YES <br /> <br />District #1 - Haas Steffen X Haas Steffen <br />District #2 - Burmah X Burmah <br />District #3 - Langfeld X Langfeld <br />District #4 - Kordiak X Kordiak <br />District #5 - Cenaiko Absent Cenaiko <br />District #6 - McCarron X McCarron <br />District #7 - Erhart X Erhart <br /> <br />NO <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA ) ~.S <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA ) <br /> <br /> I, John "Jay" McLinden, County Administrator, Anoka County, Minnesota, hereby certify that <br />I have compared the foregoing copy of the resolution of the County Board of said County with the <br />original record thereof on file in the Administration Office, Anoka County, Minnesota, as stated in <br />the minutes of the proceedings of said Board at a meeting duly held on October 17, 1989, and that <br />the same is a true and correct copy of said original record and of the whole thereof, and that said <br />resolution was duJy passed by said Board at said meeting. <br /> <br /> Witness my hand and seal this 17th day of October, 1989. <br /> <br />JCI~IN "JAY~(vlc L/', N D E N- <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br /> <br /> <br />
