The park area is located near the oxbow of the Rum River which flows into the <br /> Mississippi River approximately two miles downstream. Existing facilities in the park include <br /> a softball and soccer field along with four tennis courts and parking lots. Funding through <br /> a CDBG project will expand the park facilities to allow people, regardless of their physical <br /> ability, to enjoy the park. Approximately 5000 lineal feet of asphalt trails are proposed to <br /> be established. Hard surfaced picnic areas will be accessXble by paved trails from the parkin <br /> lot or other, trail segments, Vehicular circulation will facilitate dropping off and picking <br /> up senior citizens and hanicapped users at:a 12' wide dpop off area. A 1-imited parking area <br /> will be developed for seniors and handicapped parking only. This projec~ would further expand <br /> the facilities available by providing a fishing pier accessible from the handicapped parking <br /> lot.
