Councitmembcr DcLu~.z introduced thc following rc~luhon and moved for, it~ adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #89.06.128 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING CITY'S <br />COUNCIL POLICY IMPLEMENTING <br />THE BASIS OF FOUR UNITS IN <br />NON.SEWERED AREA <br /> <br />INTENT TO CHANGE METROPOLITAN <br />ONE IN TEN ZONING CALCULATED ON <br />FORTY ACRES WITHIN TIlE CITY'S <br /> <br /> WtIEREAS, a portion of the City of Ramscy is currentb' within thc ] 990 Metropolitan <br />Urban Ser,.,ize Area and is partially served by sanita,'3' sewc.n and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City is experiencing significant growth within thc urban and rural m'cas <br />of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City desircs to cncou:-age development within thc Urban Service Area <br />of the CiD, in order to protect the health, safcB., and wetfarc of its citizens'and to protect the natural <br />resources of thc City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City needs to accommodate such development by expanding thc <br />Metropohtan Urban Scn~icc Ama; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City also desires to provide a diverse range of housing opportunities <br />within thc City and at the same time protect the environment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City disagrees with Men'opolitan Council's cu~ent inflexible rural <br />residential policy of "4 in 40" acres. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />"gnat the City intends to work with other communities to effect a change in Metropolitan <br />Council policy relating to "4 kn 40" acre zoning. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That staff is directed to work with landowners, other communities, Memapoiitan Council, <br />and others as appropriate to effect a change in the Metropolitan Council's rural residential <br />policy. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution wes duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Cich and upon vote being taken them~n, the follo',aSng vot~ in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Rcimann <br />Coancilmember D~Luca <br />Councilmem'ty:r Cich <br />Councilmem~r Pein'son <br />Councikmemb:r Pete. son <br /> <br />and the following vot~ against the s~'n:: <br /> <br />l'~one <br /> <br />mhd the following abstaine, d: <br /> <br />~orle <br /> <br /> <br />
